CommuteSMARTseacoast: highlights of our first 12 months

It’s hard to believe a year has gone by since I walked into the COAST office as the newly hired TMA Manager last July. What an exciting and rewarding year it’s been for me to start-up commuteSMARTseacoast!

I’m so thankful for this opportunity to help commuters save money, de-stress, and keep our air clean! A big shout out to the COAST staff and commuteSMART advisory committee for their help and guidance.

Here are some of the highlights of our first twelve months:
2013
October
– Advisory Committee had first meeting with members Scott Bogle (Rockingham Planning Commission); Cynthia Copeland (Strafford Country Regional Planning); Juliet Walker (City of Portsmouth), Shane Malavenda (Lonza Biologics), Rad Nichols (COAST)
– Named the TMA “commuteSMARTseacoast”
– COAST becomes its first member
– Our first employee outreach event – Lonza Biologics!
November
– Tom Gaillard (Bottomline Technologies) and Melissa Kalicen (Portsmouth Naval Shipyard) joined the Advisory Committee
– Logo designed by Good Girl Graphics
– Strafford Regional Planning Commission joined commuteSMARTseacoast
December
– Developed mission statement and tagline
2014
January
– Contracted with WorldWays Social Marketing to develop website
– Lonza joined commuteSMARTseacoast
– Commuter outreach event at Great Bay Community College
February
– Bottomline Technologies and City of Portsmouth joined commuteSMART
March
– New members include: Chinburg Properties, Great Bay Community College, and Newmarket International
– Employee outreach event at Timberland
– Contracted with Worldways Social Marketing for social marketing campaign at Pease Tradeport
April
– Official launch of commuteSMARTseacoast and website
– New members include: C&J; City of Dover; Courtyard by Marriott; Pease Development Authority; Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce; Sig Sauer; Tenant Association of Pease; and Timberland
– Employee outreach event at Lonza
May
– New members include: City of Somersworth; LTC Partners; and Seacoast Media Group
– Commuter ourtreach events at Chinburg Properties and City of Dover
– Participated in Bike to Work Week, including bringing CyclingSavvy training to seacoast
June
– Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel became a member
– Employee outreach events at Sig Sauer, Seacoast Media Group, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Newmarket International, and LTC Partners
